Batch Quantities for CNC turning
What is a suitable batch quantity for
our machine shop?
Typical batch quantities in our machine shop are 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000,1500,
2000, 3000, 4000, 5000.
We do not normally find that we manufacture in quantities above those shown because CNC
machine tools are not cost effective in this range.
What is the smallest quantity we will manufacture?
We often manufacture quantities from 50 upwards although we will manufacture
smaller batches under the following circumstances. We are prepared to supply in quantities
as low as 10 off if the requirement is part of an annual call off where the setting up
cost can be amortised over the total batch and order cover is given for the complete
batch.
Typical Lead Time
What is a typical lead time from
receipt of order to delivery?
We normally quote 3-4 weeks but this can be increased if our machine shop is busy,
but not normally longer than 5-6 weeks. Also if a quicker delivery was required we would
endeavour to meet that requirement or at least offer our best possible date.

Delivery to
Schedule Requirements
How do we perform as a company?
D.R.N.Engineering has an excellent reputation for delivery
goods on time in accordance with order requirements. It is company
policy to only quote achievable delivery dates to ensure that our
customers come back to us time and time again. Some of our customers
have been with us since we started 22 years ago.

Quality Approvals
What Quality Approvals do we have?
We are 1S09001 approved and are audited regularly by BSI to ensure that we are
keeping our production control systems and documentation up to date. We are also willing
to incorporate any special requirements that you may have such as SPC inspection on
critical dimensions. You are welcome to visit our factory and to see for yourself the
excellent system that we operate.

What Are The Limitations Of
Our CNC Machine Shop
What range of Turned Components can we
accommodate on our CNC Lathes?
The Star CNC Sliding Head machines we operate are ideal for small
diameter components from 3mm diameter up to 2Omm diameter. We also have facilities on
these machines to turn complicated components using the Sub-Spindle and Driven Tooling
which can drill and tap cross-holes while the job is still in situ on the lathe and
therefore achieve a time cycle saving which is passed on to the customer. All these lathes
are fitted with Magazine bar loading capability which gives us the added advantage of
being able to run these machines unmanned over night.
The Miyano range of Lathes, our most
extensive type of machine, offer a wide range of choice to accommodate many different
components to ensure we get the right machine for each job and thereby give the most cost
effective price to the customer. In this range we again have the Driven Tooling and
Sub-Spindle capability offering the same advantages as described in the previous
paragraph, however this machine is different because it can accommodate up to 34mm
diameter.
Another type of Miyano machine offers a twin turret capability which means that any
component with a hole in it can be manufactured faster on this machine by over lapping the
drilling and outside turning cycles which represents a time cycle saving. The
maximum diameter we can machine in this particular type of CNC lathe is 48mm diameter for
components manufactured from bar. We also have the option to use a chuck on this machine
and therefore turn components from 48mm up to 200 mm diameter. All these lathes are fitted
with Magazine bar loading capability which gives us the added advantage of being able to
run these machines unmanned overnight.
The Hitachi-Seiki CNC lathe can accommodate the largest bar
diameter of 65mm through the spindle and also has a magazine bar loader as described in
previous paragraphs. This machine is also ideal for turning larger diameter work in the
chuck up to 2OOmm diameter and at optimum speeds and feeds.
Our milling and drilling capability from our Miyano TSV's and Kitamura
are solely used to complete second operation work on the turned components we manufacture
on the lathes. We have two CNC dividing-heads on two of the machines which means we can
drill & tap or mill on the periphery of a component. Sometimes it is more cost
effective to carry out the second operation work on the mills when compared to completing
the machining on a Sub-Spindle lathe.
Finally we would welcome you to come and visit our factory
and to see for yourself the extensive range of CNC turned components we can
manufacture in our CNC facility.
